Fiery Chicken Satay Skewers

I may not be much of a cook, but I absolutely ADORE watching cooking shows and reading recipe books! One of my favourite South African recipe books has to be Bitten by Sarah Graham - and breaking news is that her brand spanking new book, Smitten, is just as good!

The BEST Baked Cheesecake Ever!

My saintly sister-in-law, Amanda, made this cheesecake for us last week, and I am happy to report that it is absolutely sublime. And so easy. And uses very few ingredients!

Blondies With Chocolate Chips And Walnuts

I am a shameless fan of Martha Stewart (except for the jail bit, of course) and would LOVE to have my own TV show like hers where I host chefs, landscapers, craft gurus and decor experts. The only difference would be that I would sit on a chair in my pajamas and sip coffee! Hey, it could work!

Seriously, what I love most about Martha Stewart, is her recipes - especially those that work perfectly every time and are so easy that you are tempted to make them over and over again!

Easy Mince Pies

Kayla and I made the most adorable Mince Pies this weekend - probably my favourite recipe so far. (I still firmly believe that I haven't quite "cracked it" when it comes to Mince Pies and always end up trying different recipes each and every year). I also find that everyone has their own individual preferences - some prefer less sugar in the pastry to balance out the sweetness of the fruit mince, while others (like me) end up dusting them with icing sugar for an extra sugar hit as soon as they're out the oven!

Christmas Flavoured Popcorn

I spent THE most amazing evening last night at Macaroon's Christmas Workshop, and came away completely inspired! With stunning tips on Scandinavian-themed decor, how to celebrate Christmas at the beach and gorgeous ideas on wrapping Christmas presents, my FFA (Fabulous Friend Amanda) and I spent the entire time sighing with delight and wishing we could do everything!

We were also given a few stunning recipes to try, which of course I will be sharing with you! (I'm sure the team at Macaroon won't mind, especially if I tell you that their new shop in Greenside is phenomenal. You can either order your personalized stationery online or pop in and see the items in person before ordering. You can also buy non-personalised goodies immediately. Did I mention that they also deliver? See why I love them so much?)

Best-Ever Spinach Dip

This recipe is another old favourite that is the perfect alternative to chip & dip when having people over for a braai. The fact that it is served in a bread bowl just adds to the "wow" factor - it really does look like you have gone to HOURS of trouble, when in reality, it couldn't be easier!

Caramel Fruit Dip

This is such an amazing recipe for a yummy summertime snack or dessert! It was first made for me by my American friend Millie back in 1996 when she was living in Joburg and I can vividly remember one of her friends picking up the bowl and scooping out the remains with his finger!

"Fried" Honey Bananas

I am almost embarrassed to post this recipe because it is so unbelievably easy. But having made it last night for Stephen and Kayla who were rummaging through the cupboards looking for something "desserty" after supper, I have to admit that it is a complete WIN! And ... it's pretty healthy too!

Broccoli Salad

This is another one of my mom-in-law's recipes that she has graciously allowed to be shared across the length and breadth of the Internet. I hope you realise how both my mom-in-law and I should be sainted for so generously sharing these recipes instead of keeping them for ourselves - *cue lots of pats on the back*! This is absolutely divine when served at a braai or as an accompaniment to a meal.

Aunty Marie's Pumpkin Fritters

So, it was my birthday this weekend and I had a gadjillion people round for a lunchtime braai on Saturday. (We missed you, by the way!) Despite having THE most phenomenal Lamb-On-The-Spit, Portuguese Chicken, Pasta Salad, Green Salads, White Chocolate Cheesecake, and my friend Rina's delicious Creme Caramel, the hero of the entire celebration was definitely my mom-in-law's Pumpkin Fritters. In fact, they were so amazing that people were going back for seconds before some people had even had their firsts!
