An Easy Read - But Have The Tissues Handy!

I've lost count of the number of people who begged me to read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. But on reading the back cover, I have to admit to feeling quite underwhelmed. Plus, no-one died or had their eyes gouged out in the first chapter by a merciless serial killer, so what on earth was going to hold my attention for the rest of the book?

Needless to say, it took a severe bout of the flu and an inability to concentrate on anything other than Facebook updates to persuade me to crack the cover. Less than half an hour later, I was hooked!

Me Before You tells the story of Lou Clark - a completely delightful character that will make you want to invite her to book club and out for tea! After losing her ordinary job at a very ordinary cafe, Lou reluctantly accepts a six-month position as carer for the exceedingly taciturn and bitter Will Traynor, a quadriplegic who has quite literally lost the will to live after a freak accident. What follows is a hilarious, heart-breaking and unputdownable read that will have you questioning what it means to truly live.

Me Before You is not gratuitous in the slightest, but do have a few tissues handy. Oh, and be prepared to miss these characters once you have finished the book - I haven't stopped thinking about them all week! (I may also need therapy - but we'll chat about that once you have read it!)
